8 缎锦 Health Qigong 4 Longevity and a quality of life

“JIN – 锦” means colorful, elegant and glamorous. It has a history of more than 800 years since the Northern Song Dynasty.

The aesthetics of the movement is exquisitely beautiful, expansive yet powerful. It is divided into eight movements, it is called 8 Duan Jin. The Health Qigong is very effective as a fitness exercise. It only takes about 15 minutes to achieve an extremely effective wellness workout.

It is a traditional national sport that combines physical activity, breathing techniques, and psychological tuning as the main form of exercise. It is an important part of the long-standing Chinese culture.

PART I:

We begin with 30 minutes of warm up exercise in traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese martial art.

PART II:

Before we start Ba Duan Jin we will be mainly focused on learning the Traditional Chinese medicine on self-healing: our meridians, acu-points; the major techniques on our day to day self-care wellness. This takes about 30 minutes.

PART III:

In about 30 minutes, we teach and guide the participants the session of Ba Duan Jin. Dr. Lau will provide insight into the philosophy and physiological benefit underpinning each move and position.

OPENING:

The acu-point at the crown point of the head,”Hundreds river” receives the Vital Energy – Qi of Yang from the universe.

Relax upper body, Qi down to the Dan Tian.

  2. 左右開弓似射箭

    A. Expand the chest and lungs.

    B.Replenish kidneys. C. Strengthen heart, lower body and lower back muscles.

    D.Realign spine.

  3. 調理脾胃須單舉

    SEPARATING HEAVEN AND EARTH

    A. Activate spleen AND stomach to help digestion.

    THE WISE OWL GAZES BACKWARDS

    A. Eases tension of neck and pinched nerves.

    B.Increases vitality.

  5. 搖頭擺尾去心火

    SHAKE THE HEAD AND SWING THE TAIL

    A. Regulates heart and a lungs function.

    B. Draw fire from heart.

  6. 雙手攀足固腎腰

    PRESS THE EARTH, TOUCH THE SKY, TOUCHING TOES, BENDING BACKWARDS.

    A. Activates, stimulates organs & lower meridians.

    B.Strengthens and tones kidney and spine.

    PUNCHING WITH STRONG FOCUSED EYES

    A.Revitalize & Strengthen the liver.

    A. Stimulate the immune system.

    B.Draw energy from Bubbling Springs in soles of feet.

    C. Prevents and cure illness.
